MELITOPOL MUSEUM OF LOCAL LORE, UNDER OCCUPATION
In the center of Melitopol, the Melitopol City Local Lore Museum is located in an ancient building at 18 M. Hrushevsky Street (formerly Vorontsov Street) since 1967. The museum opened on May 1, 1921, thanks to the researcher D.Ya. Serdiukov, and gained regional significance in 1934. After losses during the war, the museum was revived, enriched with archaeological collections, including unique finds from the Hun era and an aristocratic mound from the 4th century BCE. As of 2017, the total number of exhibits in the museum exceeds 50,000, including graphics and paintings by O.G. Tyshler. The museum offers exhibitions on ethnography, natural history, and history, including events from World War II and the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. Visitors can actively contribute to the development of museum funds.
