STATE HISTORICAL AND ARCHITECTURAL RESERVE IN THE CITY OF SVIATOHIRSK
The State Historical and Architectural Protected Area in the city of Sviatohirsk represents important aspects of religious life and the history of religion in Eastern Ukraine during the XVI-XX centuries. It consists of the Assumption Cathedral, the Church of the Intercession, St. Andrew's Chapel on the Chalk Rock, the Сave House and the Cyril and Method staircase. Since March 1, 2022, as a consequence of the Russian invasion, the museum has been closed to visitors due to the evacuation of museum items. During 2022, from spring to autumn, the museum served as a shelter for refugees in the surrounding villages, as it is located in a basement. Currently, the museum hosts cultural events for children who moved to the Sviatohirsk Lavra from the temporarily occupied settlements in the Donetsk region, as well as for sightseeing soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
