SLOVYIANSK MUSEUM OF LOCAL LORE
The museum is located in a XIX century’s merchant's mansion near the city center. Before Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022, the museum's collection had more than 33,000 exhibits, including 26,000 relating to the history and culture of the Slovyiansk region. Now, due to the invasion of Russian troops on the territory of Ukraine, the rescue of the collection has become the key challenge. The fighting took place only 30 kilometers from the museum. For 8 months, the museum staff worked with funds, organized packaging materials and transport possibilities. They went to the museum even during the shelling to preserve museum objects. Thereby, 85 percent of the collection could be saved. The next challenge is the huge amount of non-digitized information. Digitalization is necessary to allow working with documents, including writing scientific articleses.
