DONETSK REGIONAL ART MUSEUM
The Donetsk Regional Art Museum was founded on September 23, 1939. It carries its current name since 1965. Since the start of a full-scale Russian invasion in February 2022, the institution has been conducting its activities in cooperation with the Khmelnytskyi Regional Art Museum in Western Ukraine, while keeping its legal address. Until the outbreak of Russia’s war against Ukraine in 2014, the museum had in its collection more than 15,000 pieces of painting, graphics, sculpture, decorative and applied arts - icons, most of which remained on the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories in Donetsk. Today, the museum's collection only includes about 2.5 thousand artifacts. However, the Donetsk Regional Art Museum remains active – by organizing exhibitions, workshops, lectures, meetings with outstanding Ukrainian artists, plein-airs, art challenges, etc.
