The Volyn Museum of Local Lore is the main museum of the Volyn region, the largest and oldest of the currently operating museums in Volyn. In 1940, a regional historical and local history museum was organized on the basis of the institution. During the Second World War, the museum's collection suffered significant losses, but already in 1944, immediately after the expulsion of the Nazi invaders from the territory of the Volyn region, the museum resumed its work as the Volyn State Historical and Local History Museum. On August 17, 1985, the Volyn Local History Museum was opened in a new building in the center of Lutsk.
