Kremenets Local Lore Museum: Living History Within 18th-Century Walls
The Kremenets Local Lore Museum is not merely a repository of antiquities, but a modern cultural space located in the very heart of historic Kremenets. We combine science, art, and the living traditions of our region.
History and Architecture Our story began in 1937, and since 1950, the museum has been housed in a majestic architectural monument at 90 Shevchenko Street. The building of the former Volhynian Spiritual Consistory, erected in the 18th century, is an exhibit in itself, preserving the spirit of past eras. A Journey Through Time The museum's collection holds over 70,000 unique items. Our exposition offers a journey through time:
- Nature: From paleontological finds to rare insect collections.
- History: Ancient weaponry, numismatics, archaeological treasures, and household items of Volhynians.
- Culture: The Shevchenko Hall, a large collection of stamps, and personal belongings of prominent artists (M. Verykivskyi, Y. Adamcevych, and others).
A Modern Vision The museum lives an active life and breaks stereotypes about "silence in the halls." We are a hub for the Docudays UA Traveling Festival, a venue for contemporary art exhibitions, and a place for gastronomic discoveries. Only here can you attend a master class on cooking the authentic Kremenets cherry borscht! We work closely with the Dubno Reserve and other partners to constantly surprise you with new exhibitions.
