NATIONAL HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL RESERVE "HETMAN'S CAPITAL", CHERNIHIV
The National Historical and Cultural Reserve ‘Hetman's Capital’ is a cultural, educational, and research institution established by Resolution No. 445 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on 14 June 1993, titled ‘On the State Historical and Cultural Reserve “Hetman's Capital,”’ based on a complex of historical, cultural, and natural monuments related to the history of the Ukrainian Cossacks of the Hetmanate.

In 1996, the Plan for the reserve's protection zones was approved, covering a total area of 57 hectares.

The vast majority of the monuments and cultural heritage sites that form Hetman's Capital are located within the historic centre of the city and its southeastern outskirts. These include the territory of the Baturyn Fortress Citadel, where the Monument to the Victims of the Baturyn Tragedy of 1708 is located, the Resurrection Church-Tomb of K. Rozumovsky, the House of the General Court of the Left Bank of Ukraine in Kochubeevsky Park, and the palace with its adjacent park of Hetman Kyrylo Rozumovsky in the southeastern part of the city.

On 16 November 2007, President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko, by Decree No. 1102/2007, acknowledged the importance of the State Historical and Cultural Reserve ‘Hetman's Capital’ in preserving objects of exceptional historical, scientific, and cultural value. Recognizing its role in shaping the historical consciousness of the Ukrainian people and educating younger generations to respect the history of the Ukrainian state, he granted the reserve the status of a national reserve and officially awarded it the title of ‘Hetman's Capital.’
