National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of Ukraine (Pyrohiv)
The National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of Ukraine, also known as the Pyrohiv Museum, is the largest open-air museum in Europe. Located on the southern outskirts of Kyiv, it offers visitors a unique journey into the world of Ukrainian traditions. Established on February 6, 1969, the museum opened its doors to the public in 1976.
Spanning over 131 hectares, the museum represents all historical and ethnographic regions of Ukraine: Polissia, Slobozhanshchyna, Poltavshchyna, the Carpathians, the Dnipro Region, Podillia, and the South. The site features around 300 monuments of folk architecture from the 16th to the 20th centuries, including authentic houses, churches, windmills, and utility structures that immerse visitors in the atmosphere of a traditional Ukrainian village.
The museum's collection contains over 80,000 unique exhibits, including household items, folk art, and tools, reflecting the richness of Ukrainian culture and traditions.
