ZAPORIZHZHIA REGIONAL MUSEUM OF LOCAL LORE
The history of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Museum of Local Lore is closely tied to the name of the renowned ethnographer, folklorist, archaeologist, and local historian Yakiv Novytskyi. The museum was established in December 1921. Until February 24, 2022, it housed 25 exhibition and display halls that presented the history of the Zaporizhzhia region from ancient times to the present.

The museum's collection includes 120,000 items in its primary collection and 30,000 in its auxiliary collection. These materials span various historical periods, from the Stone Age to modern times. The largest part of the collection consists of archaeological artifacts. A significant portion is dedicated to the Cossack era. The museum also boasts a rich ethnographic collection, along with sections devoted to "Orders and Medals," "Coins," "Old Prints and Rare Books," "Icons," paintings and graphics, and posters.

Separate exhibits focus on World War II and the post-war reconstruction period. The most recent collection comprises items related to the events of the Maidan, the history of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) – Joint Forces Operation (JFO), and the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war. The Zaporizhzhia Regional Museum of Local Lore serves as a scientific and methodological center for the region. Over the years, its researchers have contributed to creating exhibitions for district and community museums in the area.

For several years, the museum has actively participated in international initiatives such as "Night at the Museum." It collaborates with regional museums across Ukraine and internationally, engaging in exhibition and artifact exchanges.

In addition to guided tours, the museum hosts various events, including concerts, quests, large-scale celebrations for national and public holidays, contests, workshops, and more. The museum is also engaged in scientific and publishing activities. Since 2001, it has been publishing the annual journal Museum Bulletin.

The Zaporizhzhia Regional Museum of Local Lore is a popular tourist attraction in the city and region. The building itself is a landmark of architecture.
